This ocean is made up of fragmented memories shared with you.
As I am dragged through the waters, I catch a flicker of your warm smile.
The spark in your eyes spoke of a love that was true.
Sometimes the words come from a place of denial.
In the water, I find reflections of the affections you shared.
The waters burn with the warmth you left behind.
In each other’s currents, we found ourselves ensnared.
In you, acceptance is what I did find.
These currents take on sharp, jagged edges as they flow.
I fall into a slipstream, and my body starts to bleed.
Mirages of what once was skim past me, laying their blows.
Fallen prey to all these waters hold, I wait to be freed.
These depths are dark and treacherous, but light finds a way to shine through.
At least I have this ocean of memories with you.
